My first speaking event with Cheshire West and Chester Council was a great success. I attended with my son who also spoke. It was part of mandatory training for professionals working in health, education and social care.
We shared our experience of how we have managed over the years. We explained what has helped us and the difficulties we have encountered along the way. The points we got across were that if all professionals involved with the family listen to, and understand the needs of the young person and the family as a whole, the outcome is far better. Young people are then enabled. They can then fulfil their potential and meet their aspirations. Families then feel supported. Too often families are defeated by "the system". This was the first of a series of speaking events. Looking forward to the next event on January 12th. I absolutely love my new job as a motivational speaker and want to make a difference.
